Take a Moment: The Art of Romanticizing Your Everyday Routine 💗

take a moment 💌

romanticizing your life isn’t about pretending everything is perfect—it’s about giving the ordinary a little ceremony so it feels worth noticing. tiny rituals. five-minute pockets of softness. little choices that remind you, “i’m allowed to enjoy this moment,” even on days when your brain is loud or you feel like you’re not doing enough.

i’ll be real with you: i struggle with this too. i get caught up in the cycle of always chasing the next thing, feeling like i’m never accomplishing enough, and then suddenly i’m burnt out with no energy for myself. it’s so easy to scroll pinterest or tiktok and think self care has to look like a dreamy, perfectly staged bubble bath with 37 candles lit. but the truth? sometimes self care is washing your face, applying angel silk lip oil, and drinking water out of a chipped mug while you sit in silence. it’s not about how it looks—it’s about how it feels.

lately, i’ve noticed social media embracing more realistic self care too—things like “cozy cardio” (a low-impact walk in place while you watch a show), “silent book clubs” where friends sit together and just read quietly, or the rise of “hot girl walks” that are really just about clearing your head while moving your body. these trends remind me that self care doesn’t need to be overcomplicated—it can be fun, low-maintenance, and affordable.

for me, coloring has been pretty fun. the coco wyo books are adorable (you may have seen them on tiktok! 💖) and paired with beginner alcohol markers (i’ll link the exact ones i got on amazon), it’s been such a calming way to quiet my anxiety. it’s not picture-perfect pinterest vibes, but it feels good. and that’s what actually matters.

micro-rituals you can start today ☁️

  • a “soft start” morning: open the blinds, spritz love notes, write one affirmation on a sticky note, then drink a full glass of water before you touch your phone. ☀️
  • a 10-minute “sink spa: warm washcloth compress, cleanser, moisturizer, then seal with skin syrup for glow you can actually feel. 🫧
  • cozy cardio” after work: a low-impact youtube walk in place, candle on, silly tv in the background.
  • a five-minute reset: clear one surface (desk, nightstand, or sink), spray a room mist, and put on a playlist. 🎧
  • social self-care: silent reading date with a friend (in person or facetime), grocery walk together, or a “color & chat” night. 🌸
  • journaling without pressure: one page, three lines, or even a list—gratitude, “rose/bud/thorn,” or “what went well today.”

what i’ve learned is that taking a moment doesn’t need to be perfect, long, or aesthetic to count. it can be messy, quiet, and short—and it still matters. it’s not about proving you’re “good” at self care, it’s about showing yourself that you deserve it in the first place.

because here’s the thing: you don’t need a whole hour or a full spa setup to treat yourself well. even if it’s just five minutes, even if it doesn’t look instagram-worthy, it still counts. that tiny pause can remind your nervous system that you’re safe, cared for, and worthy of softness.

let’s chat in the comments 🫶🏼

what’s one tiny ritual you’re starting this week? are you team bath (scrub + syrup + candle) or team quick shower spa? my vote will be down in the comments! 🤭🫧

do you ever feel like your self care “doesn’t count” unless it looks aesthetic? drop your thoughts or even your current hobby/book so we can all get inspo from each other 🌸
